Biography

Wing’s research examines the way that occupational regulations shape the way that different types of workers are used to provide health services. As a health economist, he has examined how the regulation of nurse practitioners, dental hygienists, and pharmacists affect the cost and availability of basic health services such as well care visits, teeth cleanings and fillings, and vaccinations. He has also focused research on the health and economic welfare of veterans. Some of his current work is concerned with the geographical variation in obesity among veterans served by the Veteran's Health Administration. He is also involved in a collaborative project evaluating a new Medicaid Managed Care program in Illinois.
