Fundamental to health care outcomes are the efforts to change barriers to health and health care through federal and state policies, as well as those instituted by private insurance companies, to shape the access to preventive care, to treatment services, and to medications (which can create, iatrogenically, additional health issues such as addiction). From evaluating the effects of innovative programs to using large-scale data and econometric methods to trace health and health care change, this research program looks at issues from the training of medical professionals, to changes in the organization of care, to national changes in health care policy.
