Biography

Ruhun Wasata is a Ph.D. candidate in Health Behavior, Applied Health Science department, IU-SPH. Ruhun’s primary research interests revolve around chronic health issues among minoritized women, with a focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Her secondary research interests focus on sexual and reproductive health among minoritized women. For her dissertation, Ruhun is working with social media data from a qualitative perspective to examine the racial and ethnic differences in content created and disseminated for minoritized women with PCOS. Ruhun’s overarching goal is to identify ways of making social media a health communication tool catered to the various needs of culturally and linguistically diverse groups. Before starting her Ph.D. training, Ruhun served as a faculty member at East-West University, Bangladesh, and has previously served in the humanitarian sector at Save the Children International, Bangladesh.
