Biography

Bryan received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin and he completed his Postdoc from Duke University (Fuqua School of Business). His research uses quantitative and computational data science methods to investigate interesting questions related to social networks, team science, and entrepreneurship. Bryan also holds a master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis from UT Austin as well as a BA in Economics from Indiana University.

Among his current projects, Bryan examines team process mechanisms inherent to research development to better understand how to best support researchers pursuing clinical and translational science and innovation. He also collaborates with other Irsay faculty on research related to medical sociology, social networks, and sociology of mental health. His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as part of the team science core of the Duke University CTSA as well as other non-profit organizations. Bryan has published his research in many peer-reviewed journal across disciplines (e.g., Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, Small Group Research, and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication). He has also taught courses in Sociology and Management, such as Quantitative Methods, Managing Innovation, Social Networks and Social Capital, and Entrepreneurship and Incubation.
