Welcome to the Irsay
Through research, outreach, and education, The Irsay Institute will build connections between existing health-related social science programs, centers, and researchers on the IU Bloomington campus and at the IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis, along with other IU programs and state of Indiana partners, to create opportunities for transdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
The new Irsay Institute is located on the IU Bloomington campus in a recently renovated space at Morrison Hall.
The Mission of the Irsay
The Irsay Institute’s mission is catalyzing innovative, transdisciplinary research at the intersection of health and social sciences and promoting individual, institutional and community change to achieve advances in health.
This mission encompasses several areas of focus:
- Providing direct support for and development of research and researchers in the fields of health and health care.
- Conducting more advanced interdisciplinary research in the sociomedical sciences while bringing several campus-wide efforts under a single umbrella.
- Producing more graduates who are trained in the mental health field while raising awareness among all health care providers of how mental health issues complicate care for many serious illnesses.
- Informing a broader local and national policy agenda relating to mental health and stigma.
