Irsay Associate Director Brea Perry has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Leonard I. Pearlin Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Sociological Study of Mental Health, awarded by the American Sociological Association Section on Mental Health.

This honor recognizes Dr. Perry's outstanding contributions to the field, including her innovative research on mental health, the intersection of social roles and mental well-being, and her exemplary mentorship of emerging scholars. Her work, in the words of the award committee, “has had a profound and lasting impact on the discipline, embodying the spirit of this prestigious award.”

The award was established in 2000 and is named after the distinguished and influential mental health sociologist Leonard I. Pearlin.
