Irsay Director Bernice Pescosolido has been selected as the recipient of the 2025–2026 Mary Burgan Distinguished Service Award for her sustained service and significant contributions to IU Bloomington and the broader community.

The Mary Burgan Distinguished Service Award was established in 1987 by the Bloomington Faculty Council to honor a faculty member or librarian for distinguished service to the university, a profession, a discipline, or the public. The award was renamed in 2019 in honor of Mary Burgan, longtime IU Bloomington faculty member and AAUP general secretary (1994–2002).
